Squirrel Hunting

I have lived in my house for 3 years and for 3 years every fall and winter I have little critters that like to come make their home in my attic. I'm talking about squirrels. Before Dave and I were married and I lived in the house with just me and Madee I had a huge squirrel problem. They actually made a hole in the ceiling of the garage and if you caught them at the right time you could see them poking their head through the hole. I don't know if any of you have had a squirrel problem before but it is a really BIG problem. They are extremely hard to get rid of and can do a lot of damage to your roof where they make a hole to get in. They can even bite through wires and cause attic fires. One time, before Dave and I were married, he came over to the house during the day while I was gone and had an encounter with one of our "pesky little friends". He saw one poking their head in the garage and tried to shoot it with a BB gun (that is our favorite method of extermination:) Well I guess he missed but the squirrel fell out of the hole and into the garage. It ended up jumping at Dave's face before he finally beat it with a shovel. This is only one of the many stories I could tell concerning our "run-ins" with the "neighbors upstairs".

So this evening Madee heard the squirrels in the attic. Dave has been so obsessed lately with getting rid of them so he immediately went up to the attic with headlamp and BB gun in hand. It was the funniest thing I have ever seen. Dave crawled into the smallest crevasse that he possibly could (I thought he was going to get stuck!) He shot one of them but there were still two or three left. He thought that they went back outside so he started filling in the hole with this foamy stuff. I was about to go back downstairs thinking that the show was over when I hear a lot of commotion and Dave scream a few choice words that I will not mention. The squirrel jumped out of the hole and at his face!! Needless to say he was a little freaked out. So here are the pictures that of course I just couldn't pass up taking. *WARNING* Do not look if you have a soft spot in your heart for squirrels. I, for one, do not after the years of torture that they have bestowed upon my family:) Sorry in advance!!
