Spider

Last night I came upstairs and found Pike on the rug. He looked kind of funny so I went to pick him up. When I did the biggest spider ever ran out from underneath him. I have been seeing a lot of really big spiders outside lately (even a couple black widows!!) but I guess this one made its way inside. This is a little footage of Pike playing with his pet spider...

Pike

Last August, in an attempt to deal with my overwhelming maternal needs, I convinced Dave to let us get a cat. I figured if we couldn't have a baby right now then a cat was the next best thing. Dave never had cats growing up but that is all I had. So I had to sell him on the idea of having a cat. I looked and looked for weeks for the right cat. I wanted a certain kind of cat. Finally, I found an adorable kitten. The only catch was that I had to drive to Tennessee to get him. So I did. He was the cutest little thing. Since then Dave has grown to absolutely LOVE this cat. We wonder what we did before him. We named him Pike after Pike's Peak in Colorado. He kind of looks like a snow capped mountain.

Today I was making our bed and Pike loves to jump on the bed WHILE I am trying to make it. He was laying on our duvet so I just threw the other end on top of him. He layed really still for a while then he just barely poked his little head out. It was so cute. He just layed that way for a while.

More Softball

Dave has played softball for our church team for several years. Even though we have recently switched churches he is still playing for the church team. We haven't completely made that transition yet. We played last year on a co-ed team also. We went undefeated. It was so much fun getting out there again and playing. But for now it is fun to watch Dave play on the men's team. Hank (Dave's brother) and Max (our good friend) also play on the team.

Softball

Madison's Fall Ball has just started up. We missed it over the summer. She played for the first time last spring and let me tell you, it is the most intense thing to watch. Dave and I can hardly control ourselves during the games. Now I know how my parents felt watching me all those years. You just get so emotionally invested in the team and you just want to pull your hair out when they make mistakes and run out on the field and hug them when they make a great play. This year she has moved up to the 10 and under team so she is probably the littlest girl on her team. Some of those girls are as big as I am. So far they are 0-3. Not a great start but they are practicing a lot so hopefully we will get a win before too long. As long as they are having fun, that is what's important. Right??

Destin~Labor Day 2008

For Labor Day this year we went to Destin with our friends Max, Jessica, and Joe. We had a house on the beach. Hurricane Gustov was approaching near the end of our trip. It didn't actually come to Florida but caused lots of wind and big waves in the Gulf.

The first day was great weather and very calm water. We decided to take ocean kayakes out this day. It was so much fun. We could stop in the clear water and jump out to see the fish. Not to mention it was great exercise.

The next day was very different. The winds were so strong and the waves were huge. We got up early and went to the beach. Jess and I were having plenty of fun laying out watching the guys and Madee play in the waves. I made the mistake of getting up to take a picture. Dave couldn't stand for me to miss out on the fun. I saw him walking towards me and knew what was coming. I thought I was safe because I had the camera in my hand. He wouldn't dare drag me in the water with the camera in my hand!! Wrong!! He got a hold of me and there was not stopping him. He grabbed my hand and ran so fast towards the water. All I could do was run so I didn't fall. Once I got in the water I had so much fun. I guess in the end I was glad he dragged me in because I probably wouldn't have gotten in on my own.

We also visited Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin (it is our favorite place to go). Madison got to do a ropes course that they had there. They put you in a harness and you climb up and walk across ropes and balance beams. She is usually pretty scared of stuff like this but she did really well. They normally have a zip line from the top that you can slide way down over the water but it was closed.

We walked on the beach every night which I love to do. The last night the tide was way up. Dave actually fell into a sink hole on the beach. He was walking and all the sudden he took a step and his leg sunk down into the sand all the way to his knee. It was pretty funny!!

The Good Old Days

I found this website where
you can upload your picture and it will show you what you would have looked like back in the 50's, 60's, 70's and so on. I laughed so hard at some of the pictures. Dave and I would have made a cute couple in the 70's don't you think? The website is http://www.yearbookyourself.com/
